Try without logging in
Browse a server's public content with no sign-up and no email address. Use it when you want to get a feel for the app first, or to look around other servers without logging in.
Add a guest
In the login window, enter the server's host name and then choose "Browse as guest" (ゲストとして閲覧). No authentication happens; it is added as an account that only uses the server's public API.
You can have guests on several servers at once, and mix them with logged-in accounts.
What you can and cannot do
You can
- Read public timelines (local, global and more)
- Browse public channels, gallery posts and pages
- Look at server info, custom emoji and federation charts
- Use local tools such as themes and widgets
You cannot
- Post, react or follow
- Receive notifications
- Manage drive, lists, antennas or clips
Columns that are not available show a note in the "Add column" (カラム追加) list and cannot be selected.
What you can see depends on each server's visibility settings. On servers that show nothing to logged-out users, a guest sees nothing.
To stop
Just remove the guest account. Choose "Remove guest" (ゲストを削除) from the account menu. Nothing is left on the server.
If you want to log in for real, add an account as usual. Guests and logged-in accounts are separate, so there is no need to remove the guest first.
